The Annual Banquet

The Wings Steering Committee is in charge of producing the annual awards banquet, with the help of representatives from each member group. Each group is expected to contribute effort in areas such as decorations, programs, technical (lighting and sound), entertainment, and facilities and catering.

Who can attend the banquet? Anyone who wants to. Each producer or director is asked to send in a list of names and addresses of cast and crew members from each production that year. This list is combined with all other lists and duplicate names are deleted (or combined, in the case of family members). Invitations typically are sent out about a month before the event.

The banquet consists of a Happy Hour with a cash bar, followed by a catered dinner. After dinner, the awards are presented, interspersed with entertainment provided by each of the performing groups, usually from their nominated productions. Since there are a large number of awards and a number of performing groups, the entire awards ceremony can take three hours or longer.

Those who do not wish to partake of dinner may buy a ticket for just the program at a reduced rate. The cash bar remains open during the presentations.

The gathering of names for the invitations is an ongoing process which starts with the first production of the "year", which usually starts in August, immediately following the closing of HCCA's summer show. If you think that your producer or director may not have included your name on the list of invitees, you can e-mail me your name and address (including ZIP code).

The cut-off for dinner reservations is two weeks prior to the event. This is necessary to give an accurate dinner count to the caterer. If time is running short and you don't think your invitation will arrive in time, you can take a look at the "envitation" and then print out the reply card and send it in.

If you just want to see the program (no dinner), you can just show up at the door with cash (or check) in hand. [Sorry, we are unable to take credit cards.]
